Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Power Plants)
Pay Rate: $47 to $52/HR
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Orlando, FL (Hybrid)
Shift: 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern time
This position is for the Power/Energy division.
We are looking for a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer (Power Plants) for the specification, selection, design review, and quality control, of simple and combined cycle power plant equipment including, but not limited to: Power Control Centers, Static Excitation Systems, Startup Frequency Converters, Protective Relaying Systems, Low Voltage Plant Power Distribution Systems.
The successful applicant for this position will work in an international and inter-disciplinary team setting and must design, cost, and negotiate electrical equipment in a self-reliant manner for bid preparation. Tasks include collaborating with customers, vendors, various engineering disciplines, bid management, and sales and supply chain management to develop and sell technical solutions ensuring the highest customer satisfaction and successful project implementation.
- Contribute to the development of electrical concepts and system designs for reference power plants and their project-specific adaptation serving proposal activities and new unit project implementations
- Design and specification of electrical components such as static excitation systems, generator protection systems, and plant internal power distribution equipment
- Creation and release of technical system requirements as well as procurement specifications for electrical components in the scope of the team
- Creation and release of technical design and interface documentation for equipment in scope of the team
- Coordination of component interfaces with internal and external partners including the support of installation and commission teams
- Creation, review, and approval of engineering documentation
- Review and approval of vendor quotations to ensure compliance with technical specifications
- Review, comment, and approve engineering vendor documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or higher combined
- 5-8 years of experience in the technologies of electrical systems in combined cycle power plant applications
- Experience and expertise in the design and specification of static excitation systems, startup frequency converters, and generator protection systems preferred
- Experience in the design and specification of low voltage switchgear systems, power transformers, batteries, battery chargers, and cable and cable raceway systems preferred.
- Experience in the commissioning and/or operation/maintenance of mentioned components is preferred.
- Proficient in the interpretation and application of relevant international and local standards governing the design and installation of electrical components in the North America and Latin America Region (incl. IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, OSHA)
