Your Role
The primary purpose of this role is to lead component design and build for new and existing components, working across multiple teams and roles for projects enhancements and production support, in line with industry practices. Knowledge in an Agile, SAFe development environment is required. As a Mainframe Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and enhancing existing applications in a large complex IT landscape.
Responsibilities
- Lead software engineering activities at an individual level or provide designs and guidance across multiple squads comprising up to 6 developers.
- Drive the development of software that meets functional and non-functional requirements of business users and considers future maintenance requirements.
- Requirement gathering, estimation, and work planning.
- Build new or enhance existing Mainframe-based applications on legacy technologies.
- Lead application support, enhancement, and diagnosing issues.
- Participate in creating an implementation plan as per the project-level quality plan and work on go-live activities.
- Respond to production issues, arrive at a solution with inputs from stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Couple of years of experience in designing and developing enterprise applications using Mainframe technologies.
- Expertise and hands-on experience in working with relevant technologies and applications such as COBOL, CICS Easytrive, DB2, etc.
- Basic understanding of production support, application development, and design architecture is recommended.
- Experience in working on structured SDLC processes.
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS/Azure), containers, and container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Preferred Skills
- Experience and desire to work in a Global delivery environment.
- Working knowledge of production support, enhancements, problem-solving capabilities.
- Good communication skills.
- Skilled with various Agile project management tools like ServiceNow and Agile frameworks like SAFe, Scrum, Kanban.
