Job Title: Network Field Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Network Field Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various networking infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, access points, cabling, and related hardware. This position requires exceptional problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to provide professional onsite support to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Networking Hardware Installation:
- Install, configure, and manage routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and network racks.
- Perform structured cabling installations, including Ethernet, fiber optic, and coaxial cable runs.
- Network Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues involving LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi performance, and VPN connections.
- Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting support.
- Wireless Infrastructure:
- Deploy and optimize Wi-Fi networks for performance and reliability.
- Conduct wireless site surveys to assess coverage, interference, and signal strength.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Maintain and organize network closets, patch panels, rack layouts, and ensure proper cable management.
- Configure and manage power backup solutions, such as UPS installations.
- Documentation & Asset Management:
- Maintain detailed, accurate network diagrams and documentation.
- Manage IT assets according to industry best practices.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, APs).
- Solid understanding of cabling standards and structured wiring (Ethernet, fiber optics, coaxial).
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools: cable testers, tone generators, multimeters, crimpers, punch-down tools, Wi-Fi analyzers (Ekahau, NetSpot), and network analyzers (Wireshark).
- Familiarity with ticketing and service management platforms (Autotask, ConnectWise, ServiceNow).
- Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Auvik, Domotz, PRTG).
- Knowledge of cloud-based controllers such as UniFi, Cisco Meraki, and Aruba Central.
- Competency using remote management (RMM) and remote desktop tools (TeamViewer, Splashtop, NinjaOne, Datto RMM).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network , Cisco CCNA, or similar.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment:
This role involves frequent onsite visits, requiring reliable transportation and flexibility. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be necessary to ensure network availability and client satisfaction.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
