Location: Adams Street ,Brooklyn, NY- 2 days a week
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to oversee the development and implementation of a large, complex special education data management system for the public school system.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, with a focus on experience in government, preferably in NYC Government agencies.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Project Management certification is a plus such as PMP.
- Proven experience in IT Project Manager work in NY Government agencies (For an example Dept of Education or Human Resource or Dept of transit )
- Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management.
- Proficiency in software tools including SmartSheet and Confluence and Jira.
- Knowledge of special education is a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of the special education data management system project using a waterfall SDLC.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Define project tasks and resource requirements.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Manage project resource allocation.
- Plan and schedule project timelines, track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
- Effectively manage issues and risks and mitigation amongst project team members and executive stakeholders.
- Provide direction and support to the project team.
- Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the project to all stakeholders.
- Early identification of risks and mitigation plans.
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
- Plan and manage software releases in coordination with the technical team.
- Support user acceptance testing and training and coordinate with the team to address any issues.
- Manage executive-level communication for both IT and business leaders, ensuring transparency and timely updates on project progress.
