Roadway Design Engineer - Tennessee
Robert G. Campbell and Associates is seeking an enterprising individual with high technical and inter-personal skills to work with our existing roadway design staff which is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced roadway designers, outstanding clients, and stakeholders to bring important road and designs into operation that will benefit the state and local communities.
Responsibilities
- Work with existing technical staff in the producing designs for roadways, bridges, intersections and similar systems
- Work closely with existing state and local clients to meet current and future needs
- Ability to take on progressive designs as experience dictates
- Capable of project management for roadway designs that track schedule and budget
- Prepare basic permit applications and obtain approval from various regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Experience in geometric roadway and bridge designs using TDOT or other standard specifications
- Experience with roadway drainage network design and evaluation
- Experience with Microstation ORD is a positive, but experience with other roadway CAD programs is a must
- Pavement and striping design experience is preferred
- Cost estimating and construction sequencing experience preferred
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must complete a pre-employment screening; RGC&A is a drug-free workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering
- 2-4 plus years of experience in roadway design.
- Ability to be Licensed in the State of TN
Physical and Environmental Requirements
This position can involves up to 8 hours per day in an office. Travel and client meetings are also required, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods.
Expected Hours of Work
The RGC&A offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule and deliverables. This is primarily an onsite position reporting to the RGC&A office 5 days per week. Limited work at home is an option depending on a variety of project and supervisor factors
