About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is looking for a Business Development (BD) Intern to join our Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. The BD Intern will be immersed in various aspects of business development, including market analysis, client interaction, CRM management, networking, providing support and feedback for marketing materials needed for clients and preparing forms for various agencies. What You'll Do
- Marketing Support: Assist in creating marketing materials such as brochures, project profiles. Contribute ideas for social media content or blog posts related to the firm's projects and expertise.
- Networking: Attend industry events, conferences, or networking sessions with senior staff. This is an opportunity to expand your professional network and learn from industry experts.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential clients, projects, and emerging trends in the civil engineering sector. Analyze competitors to understand their strategies and strengths.
- Client Communication: Shadow BD manager in client meetings and presentations. Learn how to effectively communicate with clients, understand their needs, and build relationships.
- Final Presentation or Report: At the end of the internship, prepare a presentation or report summarizing your experiences, key learnings, and any recommendations for the firm's BD strategies.
What You'll Learn
- CRM Management: Learn how to use Deltek (CRM) software to manage client contacts, leads, and opportunities. Update and maintain the CRM database with accurate information.
- The BD department will provide guidance and mentorship, offering insights into industry dynamics, client management strategies, and effective BD practices.
- Additionally, the BD department will encourage the intern to actively engage with professionals across departments, facilitating networking opportunities and broadening their understanding of our firm's operations.
- Through hands-on involvement and constructive feedback sessions, the intern will grow professionally, contributing meaningfully to our BD initiatives while gaining valuable experience for their future career

To Be Successful
- Undergraduate pursuing Business, Marketing or Similar Major
- Be able to articulate or demonstrate their attention to detail, maturity, effective communication, and professionalism.
- Should have intermediate to advanced skill in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); Deltek, Adobe Acrobat, and Indesign skills desired
- Good communication is vital for effective interaction with clients and colleagues; and adaptability is necessary for navigating industry changes, while teamwork and initiative are valued for achieving results.
- Strong research skills are essential for analyzing markets and supporting BD strategies.
- Being organized ensures tasks are completed efficiently, and analytical abilities assist in making informed decisions. Throughout the internship, a willingness to learn and grow is essential.
- Our interns work full time, Monday - Friday, during all 8 weeks of the internship (June 16th - August 8, 2025)
