Systems Electrical Inspector
Project Overview:
The Purple Line is a 16-mile light rail line that will extend from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. It will provide a direct connection to the Metrorail Red, Green and Orange Lines, at Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton. The Purple Line will also connect to MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services. The Purple Line is owned by the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA). In spring of 2016, MDOT MTA selected a private-sector partner, Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) to design, build, operate, and maintain the light rail system for 35 years.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team. As a member of our organization, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the deployment of a safe and reliable transit system. In this role, you will provide owner oversight of the Electrical installation of the systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the National Electrical code, strong communication skills, high levels of discretion, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The position will be required to be full-time in the project office in Riverdale MD. However, the candidate should understand that this is a field inspection position, and a majority of the daily duties will require outdoor field work, including significant walking on uneven terrain, in all weather conditions. May require weekend and night work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review the installation of Electrical systems in compliance of the Specifications and National Electrical Codes.
- Observe execution of on-site Electrical systems.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Perform a variety of tasks related to Electrical systems testing and commissioning.
- Assist in the coordination, and execution of Electrical system installation and commissioning activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Contribute to a positive work environment through teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Electrical system, engineering, verification & validation or maintenance.
- Experience in Traction Power and Electrical system, verification & validation, testing & commissioning, or maintenance.
- Experience in Electrical engineering, verification & validation, testing & commissioning, or maintenance.
- Experience in rail transit Electrical systems is a plus.
- Experience in troubleshooting complex issues involving internal and external interfacing systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks or responsibilities.
