Job Summary:
The Weekend MES Supervisor manages the weekend shift machinists who work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on 12-hour shifts. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Contract Manufacturing and is responsible for ensuring a safe and productive work environment. The individual in this position is required to make regular visits to shop floor throughout the day to ensure the machinists are staying on task and have everything they need to be successful (cutting tools, setup sheets, drawings, setup equipment, machine maintenance, part programs, routings, etc.).
The Weekend MES Supervisor is a salary position working in the shop on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts during machinist's shift. The Weekend MES Supervisor is also expected to call into the MES staff meeting on Monday mornings to review the past weekend and handoff any ongoing issues to the Weekday team. During the training period the Weekend MES Supervisor will be asked to work some weekdays in place of weekend days to be trained by weekday personnel.
The weekend shift may or may not fall on Ingersoll observed holidays, for those weeks where the holiday falls outside of the scheduled weekend shift the employee will receive floating holiday time that can be used at a later date. (the time needs to be used within the calendar year)
Responsibilities:
- Supervision of weekend shift machinists
- Lead by example with a figure-it-out and take-ownership mentality
- Work towards completing jobs as scheduled in the MES schedule
- Communicate machine downtime issues to appropriate personal so that machine can be returned to service as quickly as possible.
- Promote and provide structure and discipline to optimize productivity.
- Maintain a workplace that is in proper working condition with necessary tools and equipment available, and with safety as a primary concern.
- Enter and approve time through EBS and CyberMES systems for direct reports
- Drive project performances through continuous improvement methods.
Skills:
- Must have a high degree of self-motivation and be tenacious
- Must be able to work with all disciplines and levels of management; a strong team leader/member
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with discipline for complete project communications and documentation.
- Must have the ability to look and plan ahead to anticipate potential projects deviations.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working as machinist
- Previous experience with supervision
- CNC part programming experience (preferred)
- SAP experience (preferred)
- High school education (or GED)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at Ingersoll's facilities
