Job Overview
The EHS specialist supports the site’s EHS program by providing environmental, safety and health training, implementation of EHS programs, enforcement of policies and procedures and recommends safety improvements. The position is also responsible for driving world class excellence standards in manufacturing processes; recommends and promotes safe and healthy working conditions, assess, inspects and recommends measures for the reduction and elimination of environmental, safety and health risks; participates in the development of the EHS programs, inspects satellite accumulations and hazardous waste storage areas, occasional testing and batching of water samples, and assures operations comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws/regulations, good business practices and company requirements.

Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing site leaders to ensure implementation of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and systems.
- Ensure safe, healthy and environmentally friendly working conditions by conducting site assessments for adherence to company policies and programs and compliance with state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
- Analyze proactive and reactive EHS data to recommend measures to reduce or eliminate industrial incidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Ingersoll Rand standards.
- Assist management in conducting incident investigations for all injury, illness, property damage, and fire incidents.
- Review, revise and/or develop new EHS processes based on company needs or compliance with regulatory changes,
- Perform compliance reviews of regulatory programs, develop gap assessments and associated action plans for closure.
- Lead one or more Immersion Tracker Programs (EHS Elements) and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for other programs.
- Develop compliance assurance plans to assist facility in meeting environmental goals.
- Prepare mandated environmental reports (Form R, Tier II, Air Emissions, Chemical Usage, Analytical Sampling) and ensure timely receipt by the proper entity.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise to manufacturing, engineering and facilities personnel in evaluating the environmental, safety and health aspects of manufacturing processes, chemical use and building design.
- Develop, implement, and track training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and Ingersoll Rand mandated requirements.
- Utilize the Gensuite system to input monthly metrics as defined by our enterprise EHS team
- Promote employee involvement
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 years of experience with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety management in an industrial and service environment
- Problem Solving—Identifies/anticipates potential problems, supports and leads root- cause analysis, evaluates corrective action plans.
- Relationship Management– Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds & maintains relationship with employees, peers and suppliers.
- Data/System/Process Management – Effectively utilizes software systems (ie. Microsoft suite, Gensuite, etc.) to enter data, create reports, create presentations or training resources, analyze trends and implement process improvements.
- Effective Communicator – Uses positive, clear and understandable verbal and written communications to engage, motivate and influence at all levels of the organization. Is able to take a complex technical subject and translate it effectively for non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Occupational Safety, Life Safety, Industrial Hygiene or advanced degree.
- One or more safety-related professional certifications desired (i.e. CIH or CSP).
- Lean manufacturing experience.
