Software Developer: MES
The Software Developer of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) will provide maintenance, support, and development for system applications & processes. The Ingevity Waynesboro, GA manufacturing plant runs 24/7. This role will be responsible for improving the reliability of manufacturing data systems to align with process requirements to meet the needs of stakeholders.
The developer will translate process objectives into technical requirements and work with operations, engineering, management, and contracted developers to help implement sustainable actions to drive operational excellence throughout the facility.
The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill their role while demonstrating the Ingevity core behaviors of stewardship, performance excellence, innovative spirit, respect for the individual and teamwork. On-site support will be dependent on project and support needs. Approximately 10% - 20%.
How you will impact Ingevity:
  • Maintain system design, development, enhancement, documentation, training and implementation of MES. Prepare and execute test plans and cutover plans and operate in compliance with a quality first mindset.
  • Support day to day and continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the business: safety, data systems, productivity, quality, environmental, maintenance, and cost reduction objectives.
  • Ensure production (shop floor) employees remain knowledgeable in MES applications.
  • Collaborate with corporate IT to Schedule routine MES outages in coordination with operations schedules.
  • Support Engineers and adhere to the automation standards & implement the necessary changes to the automation-related specifications & maintenance plans. On a more limited basis, manage and document system project tasks, timelines, for contract developers.
  • Assess technologies and create technical specifications, process diagrams and data models for application development.
  • Implement MES solutions and integrate with ERP and manufacturing equipment.
  • Monthly nights and weekend on-call support rotation shared with other team members.
  • Work with Systems Analyst to improve reporting functionality and data quality.
  • Help to maintain IT Security and network and governance compliance with database communications.
  • Participate in safety aspects to ensure a safe working environment in operating facility and remote – safety contacts, inspections, safety teams, etc.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management to support various quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you need to succeed:
Required:
  • Inductive automation ignition certification should be achieved prior to start.
  • 2 yr experience with SQL Server, developing Stored Procedures, and tuning queries.
  • 2 yr experience with Java and/or C#
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, math or science field preferred, but other educational levels or degrees may be considered with relevant professional experience in software development.
  • Experience in project management. Coordinating and participating in project activities include planning, design, development, installation, testing, and commissioning of SCADA related hardware and software systems.
  • Experience in working in a deadline driven environment.
  • Familiarity of PLC, SCADA, MES, SAP, MS SQL (databases), Historian, perspective, & vision.
  • Basic understanding of network infrastructure.
  • The ability to reduce complex technical process flows into formats that can be easily understood by all levels of the organization.
  • Be able to work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Preferred:
  • 3 yr experience with Python, in ignition environment
  • Familiarity with Sepasoft
  • Experience with Manufacturing operations
  • Experience with SDLC phases, specifically Agile Methodology
  • Experience with WCF Communications with SOAP and WSDL
  • Experience with .Net Framework, bootstrap, HTML5, Razor Pages
  • Experience with Windows Server and Task Scheduler
