What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Investigator – Temporary – Probate Court position at Ingham County?

The Court Investigator conducts guardianship investigations in order to report to the Court the status of adult and minor wards. Investigations include but are not limited to visiting wards where they reside (e.g., nursing homes, personal homes, etc.), record review, report preparation, and testifying in Court proceedings. Other work may be assigned by the Probate Register. Must have strong writing skills, access to and ability to operate a motorized vehicle, and a valid driver’s license. Travel expenses would be reimbursed. This is a temporary part time position.
Desired Experience: At least 1-3 years prior experience with Courts, legal proceedings, criminal justice (including probation officer work), social work, heath care, or equivalent.
