REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous food service experience, preferably in a school setting.
- Knowledge of food preparation methods, portion control, proper food handling and storage, inventory control and food ordering.
- Knowledge and experience in cash handling, cashiering. Good math skills.
- Knowledge of food safety laws and regulations.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a school setting.
- Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in an appropriate and respectful manner.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work for improvement.
- Ability to follow the requirements of school food service.
- Working knowledge of school meal requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES::
- Serve meals to students in a friendly and pleasant manner.
- Assist in the preparation of food, provide service, and perform other kitchen activities, including dishes, clean up, receiving, and stocking.
- Maintain high sanitary and safety standards in the kitchen and storage areas.
- Accurate cash handling and accounting for daily sales, including performing cashier duties. Able to operate a point of sale computer.
- Work with Lead Cooks, Co-workers, and Director of Food and Nutrition Services toward an effective and efficient food service operation.
- Perform duties at other schools in the district, as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: Middle School – Monday – Friday 2.5 hours (per school calendar)
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS: Per Master Contract with Haslett Applied Services Association
