POSITION: Full Time 1.0 FTE High School Counselor
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid State of Michigan school counselor license (SCL) or a Michigan Teaching Certificate with school counselor (NT) endorsement
- Strong working knowledge of adolescent development and social-emotional learning (SEL)
- Experience with writing and implementing 504 plans
- Strong working knowledge of MTSS to meet students’ needs
- Ability to actively and positively participate and contribute as a team member
- Experience with student scheduling and creating master schedules
- Knowledge of graduation requirements and personal curriculum
- Familiarity with state and local assessments
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding student and family services
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with secondary students
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment, culture, and climate
- Engage in district and school teams focused on SEL
- Provide individual and group support and counseling to meet SEL and behavioral needs
- MTSS team member
- Conduct risk assessments for students in crisis
- Build relationships with families in an effort to communicate proactively and effectively
- Assist families as needed in their pursuit of community services
- Facilitate the partnership of community agencies
- Maintain records of all services provided
- Serve as building liaison with county CTE high school
SALARY: Per Master Agreement - Up to Step 9 on WEA salary schedule based on experience; up to a $3,000 signing bonus depending on qualifications; $1,000 bonus in June of 2026, per the WEA Agreement.
STARTING DATE: First day of the 2025-2026 school year
