Our middle school orchestra is a growing ensemble with passionate students eager to learn and perform.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Orchestra Teacher to lead our middle school string program. The ideal candidate will inspire students, foster a love for music, and contribute to a collaborative arts department. This individual will be responsible for teaching string instruments, developing students’ musicianship, organizing performances, and creating a supportive, engaging classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Michigan teaching certificate with a Music Education (JQ) endorsement
- Demonstrated proficiency on a string instrument and knowledge of orchestral repertoire
- Prior teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level
- Passion for working with middle school students
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach daily orchestra classes to students in grades 7-8 and co-teach to students in 5-6
- Instruct students in violin, viola, cello, and bass
- Plan and lead school concerts and community performances
- Prepare students for solo and ensemble festivals and other competitions
- Maintain instruments and manage inventory
- Collaborate with fellow music and arts faculty
- Engage in professional development and school events
