Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse and hold a current License to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required, Masters degree preferred.
  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years serving as a clinical trainer preferably in a long-term care organization.
  • Must have a positive attitude, motivating others, and using influence in a positive manner.
  • Must have critical listening skills, the ability to assess the skills of the RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, GNA’s, etc. and provide supportive feedback in a respectful manner.
  • Must be able to maintain composure and seeking solutions in stressful situations.
  • Proficient ability to use a computer and Ingleside’s electronic medical record.
  • Proficiency with Relias internet based training preferred.

Job Summary:

The Staff Educator reports directly to the Director of Clinical Operations. The Staff Educator develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive education programs to meet annual clinical compliance, new hire orientation, annual competency requirements, as well as professional development needs of Nursing leadership and staff. The Staff Educator establishes clinical education modules that facilitate in-house learning and career ladder opportunities. In this position the Staff Educator designs, implements and tracks the clinical onboarding for all clinical job groups ensuring consistency of application. An essential deliverable of the Staff Educator is to structure the onboarding of new clinical staff ensuring their learning and development needs meet acceptable clinical standards of practice. The Staff Educator assesses the learning needs of clinical staff and validates completion of all annual clinical competency training through Relias.™ Serves as a role model inspiring, coaching, and mentoring staff. The Staff Educator creates an approved CNA program and subsequent development programs. The Staff Educator creates and implements a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) preceptor program for to maximize the orientation process and the retention of staff. The Staff Educator is also the ambassador with CNA school partnerships ensuring that clinical experiences for students are meaningful and creates the appropriate environment for future new hires.

In partnership with the Director of Talent Acquisition the CE is partners with LPN and CNA schools ensuring that clinical experiences for students are meaningful and creates the appropriate environment for future new hires.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the clinical staff identifying the gaps between acquired and needed competencies.
  • Establishes criteria for all in-service education programs, constructing the curriculum, course outlines, objectives, teaching methods, examinations, and evaluation tools for each program.
  • Works with clinical staff to set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-sensitive with respect to competency acquisition.
  • Provides effective and ongoing feedback regarding clinical progress.
  • Effectively motivates participants to continue to acquire competencies at an increasing skill level.
  • Validates completion of competency training through Relias™
  • Assesses clinical learning needs; discusses the expected learning outcomes based on the identified core competencies.
  • Identifies the potential learning opportunities/assignments available in the practice setting that will match the identified areas for growth and learning needs.
  • Provides ongoing constructive feedback (e.g., coaching, encouragement, support reinforcement.)
  • Intervenes immediately to prevent unsafe and unethical actions.
  • Provides ongoing constructive feedback using a structured evaluation process and tools when available.
  • Takes appropriate action if progress towards the learning outcomes is not satisfactory.
  • Keeps informed of new legislation and regulations that impact on standards of nursing practice and resident care.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
