Logistics Manager

Job Title: Logistics Manager
Department: Supply Chain
Reports To: Director of Supply Chain

Summary:
This position will be responsible for the management of the Shipping and Warehouse processes, including but not limited to: finished goods and packaging storage, inventory control, internal logistics, all outbound shipping, bin returns and sorting process, forklift fleet management, labor deployment, and organizational efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and provide leadership to Shipping and Warehouse supervisors.
  • Utilize the WMS portion of the ERP system to ensure accuracy of inventories and timely, accurate, fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Forklift fleet management (rentals, leases, purchases); including roadmap to electrification.
  • Coordinate and manage continuous improvement initiatives focused on Logistics team culture, processes, procedures, and daily workflow, enhancing employee productivity and accuracy.
  • Support, develop, and manage work instructions, documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Identify needs and implement staff development/training programs.
  • Develop KPI’s, measure and report performance.
  • Prepare and implement staffing plans and operating budgets. Focus on overtime management.
  • Promote and drive a safe work environment and adherence to GMP’s.
  • Work with Customer Service, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Plant Operations management in problem-solving and company-wide continuous improvement activities.

Food Defense and Safety

  • The Logistics Manager is a key member of the Food Defense Team. Works closely with Quality Assurance and Plant Managers to assist in the development and ensuring the food defense plan is enforced with all employees.
  • Provides input to the Food Defense Team on the production of the products when they may be affected by a tampering situation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct Reports include Warehouse Supervisors
  • Indirect Reports include Order Pullers, Bin Sorters, Yard Clean Up, and the associated Foremen.

Qualifications


Qualifications – Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience managing warehouse and shipping operations; including the management and leadership of teams and individuals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience working with WMS and ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with all levels of staff and management.
  • Purchasing and Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Knowledge of seasonal food processing or industrial tomato processing operations a plus

Education and /or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Logistics is preferred, but not required.
  • 5-10 years of warehousing/distribution center experience in a management position.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position may be substituted.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to read/write Spanish is a plus, but not required.
