Ingram Barge Company is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Legal team as Corporate Counsel in Nashville. In this role, you will be responsible for providing critical legal services and guidance to all areas of the Company in transactional, commercial, and regulatory matters.
What you will be doing:
- Contributing to the Legal and Claims Team's mission of delivering high levels of customer service and support on commercial, transactional, and regulatory matters, as well as incident and casualty response efforts when needed
- Interacting with Sales, Logistics, Operations, Accounting & Finance, Information Services, Procurement, and External Services Departments while drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts, including: inland river transportation agreements, charters, operating agreements, marine services agreements, hold harmless agreements, professional services agreements, SaaS contracts, and licensing agreements
- Developing and negotiating complex commercial agreements related to Ingram's rapidly growing terminaling, freight-forwarding and brokering business (including international and domestic air, ocean, and trucking)
- Providing concise legal guidance to internal commercial and management clients on legal issues arising anywhere within the Company
- Supporting department activities with regular and prompt attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required; A license to practice law in at least one U.S. state currently in good standing and the ability to secure an in-house license or full license by comity in Tennessee is also required
- 3-5 years of experience
- Working knowledge in the following areas: general business law, commercial, and transactional issues
- Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
- Highly self-motivated
- Able to make sound decisions relating to issues impacting commercial and transaction matters.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Prior experience in a law firm or legal department
