Job Summary:

The Hydrovac Operator will be responsible for the operation of hydrovac equipment to perform non-destructive excavation around underground utilities and pipelines. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, precision, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operate hydrovac trucks and equipment to excavate around underground utilities, pipelines, and other structures.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and the team. Conduct regular safety checks and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepare job sites for excavation by assessing site conditions, identifying potential hazards, and coordinating with site supervisors and other team members.
  • Perform precise excavation activities, including trenching, potholing, and daylighting, while avoiding damage to underground utilities.
  • Manage and dispose of excavated materials in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of hydrovac equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Maintain accurate records of excavation activities, equipment usage, and safety inspections. Report any incidents or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and other stakeholders on-site to ensure project requirements are met and address any concerns.
  • Maintain, clean and care for all assigned equipment.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating hydrovac equipment or similar machinery.
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record. Certification in hydrovac operation or similar field is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret site plans and blueprints.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with clients.

Work Environment:

  • This role is situated within an outdoor environment and regularly will be conducted in various weather conditions.
  • This is a full-time position with working hours scheduled during various hours.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While executing job responsibilities, the employee will be required to engage in occasional standing, walking, sitting, manual manipulation of objects, tools, or controls, reaching, climbing stairs, and verbal communication.

The employee will also be expected to have the ability to climb ladders, work from an elevated location, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, and crawl. Additionally, the employee will need to be able to frequently and repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.

Travel:

  • Daily travel within a limited area is expected for this position.
