Job Summary: The safety auditor will carry out daily inspections in the field and in the IPS yard as necessary. Inspections included but are not limited to checking for proper PPE, JSAs, pre-trips, hazard assessments, pre-job briefings, equipment, vehicles and any other items that may need inspection. Inspectors are also responsible for taking immediate corrective action as necessary if any issues are found during any inspections. All inspections will be properly documented in the iauditor system. BBS audits are also to be completed as necessary each day.

Complete inspections are expected to be done at each location in which the inspector visits. The purpose of the audits is to ensure employees are in compliance with IPS policy as well as customer policy. More importantly it is to ensure a safe working environment for everyone. Proactive communication and teamwork are essential to be successful in this position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Establish and foster a positive safety culture, analyze risk assessment, and enforce preventative measures.
  • Assist company employees and field safety manager in completion of accident/incident paperwork such as: Initial Report of Injury or Accident.
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings by checking H2S monitors, fire extinguishers and maintaining safety meeting sign in sheet.
  • Train, coach and educate employees on policies or procedures while in the field.
  • Continually evaluates (along with division managers) field safety issues and report those issues to field safety manager in order to address concerns or patterns.
  • Attend training as necessary to stay current on regulations and industry standards, as well as maintain proficiency on safety systems and safety processes.
  • Assist when necessary in managing safety audits and compliance reviews when conducted by government agencies and customers.
  • Complete audits and monitor general HSE compliance and performance, compiling analytical reports, ensuring that the Facility Response Plan (fire drill, muster stations, etc.) is up to date.
  • Communicate regularly with field safety manager and as necessary, other managers and supervisors within the company.
  • Create and implement safety plans while on location ensuring that they are properly followed.
  • Attend safety walks and inspections before or during field projects to analyze safety risks.
  • Provide any recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
  • Maintain documentations of the companys safety procedures, accidents and related events.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Perform duties in the most efficient and cost-effective manner as possible.
  • Maintain, clean and care for all assigned equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Valid Drivers License
  • Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements including OSHA
  • Minimum 1-year Oilfield Safety experience
  • Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to read and understand English for the purpose of completing job related documentation
  • Employees will be asked to do a variety of physically demanding tasks including but not limited to bending, sitting, squatting, grasping and standing in addition to lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must be able to climb without a fear of heights.
  • Must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office /field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary, but are usually Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. some weekend work may be required from time to time as scheduled.

Travel

Significant amount of travel within each day should be expected, as the work required is done in the field. Employees could drive as much as a few hundred miles in a day.
