Ingredion is hiring a Principal Technologist, Food Applications who will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on establishing In Silico experimentation capabilities and Artificial Intelligence technologies for product innovation. The Principal Technologist, Food Applications will use expertise in food technology and formulation to conduct laboratory and pilot plant activities that aid in development of In Silico formulation capabilities and discovery of new ingredients and food systems utilizing AI/ML approaches. Core Responsibilities: · Conduct laboratory formulation to support development and validation of In Silico formulation capabilities to enable faster creation of customer applications solutions · Collaboration with Data Scientists, Process Engineers, and Chemists to establish relationships between material properties, manufacturing processes and product performance using Data Science/ML approaches. Identify new product development or process improvement opportunities based on the insights · Aid in development of comprehensive product libraries and maps that will enable rapid selection of ingredients, raw materials, and/or food systems for targeted food applications · Assist in translation of application performance requirements into molecular targets to accelerate product development. Develop model systems for faster assessment of ingredient’s performance in foods · Partner with other R&D functions to develop highly functional crops, enzymes, ingredients, or Food Systems utilizing In Silico experimentation approaches and validate their performance in food applications · Write reports and effectively communicate results to project teams and stakeholders · Keep appropriate records to support IP strategy and develop patent applications. Conduct prior art searches (literature, patents) related to projects and stay abreast of new technology and science trends · Develop industry relationships and networks within professional organizations. The Principal Technologist - Food Applications position is well-suited for you if you: · Have strong critical analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities and creatively link together disparate ideas to propose novel approaches. · Adapt to shifting priorities appropriately and help others operate with flexibility. · Demonstrate a high degree of energy, self-motivation, personal commitment, and ownership. · Offer new ideas, think “outside the box” and have an ability to explore multiple possibilities for tackling challenges to come up with best solutions Qualified candidates will have: · BS degree in a Food Science, Food Technology or Food Engineering with 5 years of industrial experience or MS Degree and 3 years of industrial experience in food applications · Subject matter expert in plant-based protein and gluten-free Ingredients, food ingredient functionality, formulations, and interactions · Excellent knowledge of common food processes in bakery, beverage, and alternative meat and dairy applications · Working knowledge of a wide range of analytical techniques for food product assessment and experience conducting appropriate experiments in the laboratory and pilot plant · Familiarity with bioinformatics, molecular modelling, and application of data science and advanced statistical analysis in value-added utilization of research and manufacturing data is advantageous · Critical analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities are a must · Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive technical reports and deliver technical presentations · Excellent planning and organizational skills. Demonstrated project management skills and experience to execute work and deliver projects on time · Ability to interact constructively with colleagues from a wide variety of roles within the company · Strong computer skills.
