Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate expertise in managing key maintenance and reliability KPIs, such as MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and asset availability, to drive personnel development and operational excellence.
- Lead the medium- to long-term strategic maintenance and reliability strategy and planning & Scheduling process, balancing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
- Develop and implement structured and standardized maintenance management systems throughout the plant.
- Integrate resource and asset planning with S&OP to enhance efficiency, productivity, and long-term sustainability.
- Manage the preventive maintenance plant downtime strategy and outages, prioritizing critical equipment while providing regional visibility for scheduled activities.
- Lead asset reliability efforts by implementing predictive/proactive analysis tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing, and oil analysis.
- Manage maintenance and contractor costs while ensuring high-quality execution. Work closely with procurement to establish new supplier relationships and oversee outsourced maintenance contracts effectively.
- Align capex prioritization efforts with engineering and operations to ensure investment in critical equipment and facility upgrades.
- Optimize spare parts inventory management, ensuring availability of critical components while minimizing excess cost
- Oversee plant root cause analysis (RCA), PCDA improvements projects and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to eliminate chronic failures.
- Optimize work execution by implementing reliability best practices and ensuring proper prioritization of work orders.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, FSMA, and ISO standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), confined space entry, and risk assessments.
- Support the safety and environmental departments in meeting legal requirements for Occupational Health and Safety.
- Ensure standardized maintenance strategies align with ISO systems and industry best practices.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through reliability improvements, energy efficiency projects, and vendor negotiations.
- Integrate maintenance operations with Industry 4.0, collaborating with IT and procurement on digital transformation projects to enhance information management and decision-making speed.
- Deploy RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), advanced tools, Six Sigma, and Applied Statistics to extend asset lifecycle.
- Optimize energy efficiency and sustainability while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Serve as the interface between maintenance departments, ensuring coordinated resource allocation, service contracts, and procurement activities to reduce costs and optimize capital expenditure.
- Implement structured training programs to upskill maintenance personnel on cogeneration, predictive maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Standardize/Optimize technician wrench time with procedures, training and predictive management processes.
- Work through the People Capability Review to define the leadership pipeline and development plan, assessing risks and aligning with the overall people strategy.
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment history within the CMMS
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance engineers, reliability specialists, technicians, and utility operators
- Work closely with HR to ensure adequate staffing, structure, competency development, and succession planning
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent technical experience).
- 7 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, and utilities management within a food processing, corn starch, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience in CMMS (SAP PM), predictive maintenance, RCA, FMEA, and RCM.
- Familiarity with S&OP integration and Industry 4.0 technologies.
- Expertise in steam generation, compressed air, refrigeration, power distribution, and water treatment.
- Knowledge of ISO, OSHA, EPA, and FDA regulations related to maintenance and utilities operations.
- CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), CRL (Certified Reliability Leader), or Six Sigma Certification.
- Experience managing reliability and capacity increase projects.
- Background in capital project execution and factory expansions.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build, lead, and develop high-performance maintenance and reliability teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
