Job Description

AMS Billing (https://www.amsbilling.com), one of Inhabit’s companies, provides a utility billing management service for multi-family apartment complexes. AMS is looking for a Lead PHP Developer to join our growing team. Responsibilities include gaining a deep knowledge and understanding of the entire product portfolio; architecting new systems, products, and services; developing RESTful services; implementing changes to the database and service model; creating new modules; developing integrations with 3rd-party platforms; and, assisting the development team in their tasks.

Must be highly-skilled in the technologies listed below and possess excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a full stack developer (JavaScript/PHP/MySQL) with SysAdmin/DevOps experience in Microsoft Azure and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where each team-member is vital to the overall success of the product.

This role is critical in bridging the gap between the architectural vision and practical development execution, ensuring that our software products are not only well-designed but also effectively developed and delivered. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who excels in a collaborative environment and is committed to driving innovation and excellence in software development.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do (Functions and Responsibilities)

• Reports to Head of Development, helping to communicate between the development teams and corporate leadership
• Leading a team of developers in an Agile environment developing a utility billing platform
• Working with a product team to recommend and propose technical solutions to real world problems
• Working with technologies including PHP/Laravel, MySql, JavaScript and React
• Restructuring and refactoring an existing application for better performance and maintainability
• Help mentor and build both hard and soft skills of other members
• Working with both on-shore and off-shore teams
• Participate in leadership functions across the organization in order to help shape and drive the culture and growth of the development team
• Understanding the wants and desires of the user
• Identifying the features that are critical to the success of the platform
• Driving solutions that deliver features on time and within budget
• Helping create a technical vision for the product utilizing technical and domain knowledge
• Breaking the overall technical vision into consumable Features, Stories, and Tasks
  
  
  

Qualifications

What We are Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

• 7-10 years experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications
• Minimum 3 years lead experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications
• Experience working with PHP and related frameworks
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum software development methodologies
• “Servant Leadership” mentality and demonstrated passion for serving customers, employees, and helping others
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
• Experience working with a team to deliver a product on time
• Ability to work independently but know when to say "I don't know” and ask for help
• Strong verbal and written English skills
