The Senior Project Manger is responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from start to finish while also managing the other project team members. Their primary role is to ensure that projects are completed on schedule, and within budget. Below is a brief list of responsibilities.
Responsibilities for Senior Project Manager
- Project Planning: Develop and implement project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Create detailed project schedules, allocate resources, and establish project budgets.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate and collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders involved in the project. Ensure effective communication and information flow between all parties.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking expenses, and monitoring financial progress. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to control project costs.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Regularly assess project risks and implement appropriate risk management strategies to minimize their impact on project timelines and budgets.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all construction work meets the required quality standards and complies with building codes, regulations, and permits. Conduct regular inspections and quality checks throughout the construction process.
- Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Monitor contract performance, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and adjust timelines as needed. Coordinate construction activities to optimize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a project team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance and support, and evaluating team performance. Foster a positive work environment and promote effective teamwork.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the main point of contact for clients and maintain strong relationships throughout the project. Regularly communicate project updates, address client concerns, and manage expectations.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on the construction site. Implement and enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety inspections.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, financial records, change orders, and other relevant project documents. Generate timely and comprehensive project reports for stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced project delivery. Implement best practices and lessons learned from previous projects to improve future performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 7 years of commercial/multifamily/senior living construction experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry regulations
- Proficiency in project management software and tools
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
