IGS is currently recruiting for a Database Administrator to support the Department of Veterans Affairs.
This position is pending contract award, applicants will be reviewed post-award.
Assignment of Work and Travel:
This is a remote access assignment. Candidates will work remotely daily and will remotely access VA systems and therein use approved VA provided communications systems. Travel is not required; however, the candidate may be required to attend onsite client meetings as requested.
Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
- Create, populate, and maintain databases and data cubes for a variety of analysis and reporting projects
- Develop new logical and physical data models to accommodate data storage and analysis needs of various data warehousing and analysis projects
- Review, enhance and combine existing data models
- Devise methods and procedures for collecting, formatting and preparing data for statistical analysis and maintain datasets and records of research data from a variety of data sources
- Inspect, validate and prepare data profile information on various VA clinical datasets
- Communicate information to a wide variety of research and non-research personnel?
- Prepare database extracts for VA research projects using various data sources in accordance with clinical data management, informatics and public health practices
- Prepare data domain user guide documentation to assist research staff in selecting and understanding the data
- Create database and file structures to include definitions of file characteristics, file layouts, data dictionary entries, file indices for each subsystem
- Provide data as datasets, database schema or views to databases for projects/studies as requested by customers?
- Provide current and accurate data models and metadata as appropriate and defined by Program Mangers
- Provide data for application development
- Provide reports for VistA data combined with external data
- Provide Queries and Reports
- Provide White paper on recommendations for automation of data requests particularly those that are repetitive
- Provide input to Weekly Status report?
- Adhere to VA data security and data privacy issues/policies and in manipulating, preparing, disseminating, and analyzing study data
- Examine all permissions and approvals from National Data Systems (NDS), OI&T and others, before releasing data
- Communicate information to a wide variety of research and non-research personnel both internal and external to the VA
- Build topic specific data cohorts (guided by researchers or external needs for particular data);
- Support SQL Server Analysis
- Generate/produce queries and reports with SQL Management Studio or other tools, SQL Server Reporting Services or as requested within the timeframe defined by the PM.
- Review and provide input on data domain user guide documentation to assist research staff in selecting and understanding data
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline. (Bachelor’s Degree - Can be substituted for an Associate’s Degree and two (2) additional years of relevant experience, or four (4) additional years of relevant experience and High School Diploma/GED. Associate’s degree - Can be substituted for High School Diploma/GED and two (2) additional year’s relevant experience.)
- 3 years relevant experience, including significant experience with SQL Server 2016 Instances?
- Must have experience reacting to and triaging problems with the scripts, connections, data schemas, and database servers and developing and implementing solutions as necessary?
- Experience with implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of production SQL Server databases, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our client’s applications??
- Experience with SQL Server 2016 and 2019?
- Must have reliable internet service that allows for effective telecommuting?
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills?
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship due to clearance requirement??
