Job Summary:
The Electronic Page Composer plays an essential role in the label printing process by taking graphics prepared by the Pre-press team and imposing them onto plates for the printing process. This position requires a high degree of attention to detail to ensure that the imposition and plating process deliver an accurate and high-quality plate to the production floor. Performs a variety of electronic page composer and plate making responsibilities, i.e. Page composition, plating, and basic machine maintenance, according to the requirements of the external customer and the internal customers.

- Utilizes computer systems to produces plates for all presses according to the production schedule.
- Understands plannings instructions and assembles job to meet expectations.
- Collaborates with other pre-press team members to ensure quality work and customer needs are met.
- Works with other departments to ensure equipment is maintained and safety/quality processes are followed.
- Assists in a weekend on-call rotation for high priority plate making; some additional hours to meet job demand may be required.
- May maintain equipment, including but not limited to plate setters and processors. This may require some lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory on plating items.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Accurately enters time and materials on Inland’s computer systems.
- Assists in other pre-press department work as necessary.
- Assists in developing the department’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Essential skills and experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent proofing skills with an ability to read and apply math functions, including fractions, decimals and percentages.
- Proficient in Windows Operating systems
- Detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize work and minimize production downtime
- Logical and conceptual thinking skills to correlate job specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn new technology systems and processes, including software
Nonessential skills and experience:
- Associate's degree in graphic arts, Printing and Publishing or a related field and two or more years of related experience in a pre-press or manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Work Environment:
- Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment with frequent changes and interruptions, and multiple project assignments.
- Works with a variety of people including vendors, customers, employees, managers, and executives.
Required Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, standard business hours with the ability to work overtime, when needed
- Flexible to attend meetings or important functions which may occur during off hours, weekends, and holidays to meet organizational initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and bi-lateral pinching required at various points throughout the workday.
