National Bookkeeper/Accountant
Location: 5215 Ballard Ave NW, Seattle WA 98107
Full Time: 35 hour work week, onsite
The IBU is a National Union representing members working in the maritime industry in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Hawaii, and Alaska.
This position is under an Office & Professional Employees Local 8 Union Collective Bargaining Agreement, which provides Health & Pension benefits and paid vacation & sick leave.
The National Bookkeeper/Accountant overseas the union finances and reports directly to the National Secretary-Treasurer. Based on a 35 hour work week, the compensation, depending on experience, ranges from $68,733/yr to $71,295 with full medical and pension.
Duties and responsibilities:
Complete all financial activities of six regions and our Job Corps Seamanship Program:
Accounts Receivable
Accounts Payable
Deposits, check writing
Coordinate fund transfers
Payroll
HR (compliance, employee wages & benefits)
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card usage
Quarterly workers comp reporting
Prepare/create all remittance forms and financial reports
Facilitate annual audit, LM-2 filing
Issue 1099’s
Organize/maintain file system
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Standard fund accounting practices (modified cash basis) and bookkeeping
MIP Abila accounting software
Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Organize work activities, multi-task, work independently, prioritize to meet deadlines
Communicate in a courteous and professional manner
Maintain confidentiality
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of MIP Abila accounting software or similar (Sage, Intact, Net Suite)
and ADP Payroll or similar (Paychex, Ceridian, Gusto)
Familiarity of labor unions or non-profits a plus
Salary : $68,733 - $71,295
