Custodian - Sunday-Thursday 10:30pm-7:00am (Temporary)

Job Summary

The Custodian keeps offices, production, warehouse, cafeterias, and restrooms in clean and orderly condition; maintains exterior parking lots, buildings, and grounds; performs light carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Operations

· Cleans floors by mopping, sweeping, and buffing; prepares cleaning solutions as needed.

· Empties refuse receptacles.

· Cleans, dusts, and/or disinfects various surfaces and furniture.

· Removes leaves and snow from sidewalks and performs seasonal tasks as needed.

· Collects and bails plastic and shrink wrap from production area.

· Performs light plumbing work, light electrical work, and light carpentry work.

· Additional duties as assigned.

Safety

· Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.

· Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.

· Attend scheduled EH&S training program.

· Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.

· Recommend improved EH&S practices.

· Must maintain regular and consistent attendance.

Product Safety and Quality

· Follows product safety (Safe Quality Food, a.k.a. SQF) and quality standards.

· Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).

· Ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

· Communication: Ability to communicate one-on-one and in groups, complete task sheets, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

· Logical reasoning: Ability to understand instructions and troubleshoot problems.

· Technical: Experience in electronic facilities management systems a plus.

· High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); valid Connecticut driver’s license; previous experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful.
