Employer: The Inn at Taughannock Falls is a luxury boutique hotel, restaurant and event center in Trumansburg, NY. The 12-acre estate is enhanced by the new Enchantment Event Garden which hosts high end weddings and other events. The hotel features four different buildings including the jewel at the center of the estate, a three story Victorian Mansion that operates as the home base of the hotel, bar, and restaurant.
We are seeking an energetic and well-organized banquet manager to provide our customers with a first-class private event experience. As a banquet manager, you will liaise with upper management, on-site event planners, and the executive chef to meet customer expectations. Your duties will include controlling the cost and quality of staff service, preparing the venue, and coordinating the service of meals.
To be successful as a banquet manager, you should exhibit extensive experience in managing banquets. Outstanding Banquet Managers ensure that customers receive a level of service that exceeds expectation.
This is a terrific opportunity for an experienced banquet manager or a banquet captain/dining room manager willing to learn. Position is expected to be 30-40 hours per week. Positional is seasonal April-October, with opportunity for future year-round work. Some part-time hours during the winter months may be available in other departments.
Banquet Manager Responsibilities:
· Discussing sales contract details with the BEO meeting group (GM, Director of Sales, Event Planners, Exec. Chef, & Banquet Chef).
· Planning the venue layout according to the pre-determined floorplan.
· Determining the number of servers and bartenders required and scheduling them
· Supervising the placement of tables, chairs, cutlery, plates, glasses, table linens, heating lamps, serving utensils, and carving stations.
· Following the pre-determined timeline and consulting with catering team to serve food services on-time.
· Overseeing the seating of guests, the serving of meals and beverages, and the clearing of tables.
· Managing the availability of liquor and soft drinks.
· Preparing work schedules and completing documentation in a timely manner.
· Answering customers' questions and accommodating special requests
Banquet Manager Requirements:
· 2-3 years of experience in banquet management, or similar.
· Proficiency in POS systems.
· Exceptional ability to plan banquets, manage budgets, and meet deadlines.
· Experience in supervising banquet venue staff a plus.
· Ability to collaborate with Event Planners and Executive Chef.
· Extensive knowledge of catering equipment and venue requirements.
· In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry best practices.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
