Position Title: Child Care Shift Supervisor
Reports To: Child Care Manager
Supervises: Child Care Attendants
Summary of Position
The childcare Shift Supervisor provides basic direction, guidance and supervision of children of different age groups. Provides work direction of staff in absence of or at the direction of the Manager.

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following and are subject to change at management’s discretion:
- Directs childcare staff in absence of or as directed by the Childcare Manager.
- Assists in conducting daily activities and decision making regarding incident, accidents or Team Member concerns,
- Assist in any class assigned and help where needed.
- Assist Manger in coordination of office tasks.
- Ensure Children are clocked in and out daily.
- Observes and monitors children’s play activities.
- Greet parents, children and visitors provides information as needed.
- Train new hires with preliminary work information.
- Coordinate and plan meetings and events.
- Create perodic reports for the Childcare Manager.
- Provides individual and group direction, guidance and supervision of children in the performance of development activities.
- Leads and directs children in teaching and play activities as appropriate to age and ability.
- Participates and assists in the planning and implementation of daily instructional and development activities of children.
- Instructs children in the proper and safe use of facilities and equipment.
- Performs nutrition and hygiene procedures as necessary of children too young or otherwise unable to provide for themselves.
- Maintains records on individual children including daily observations and information about activities.
- Communicate with parents and management regarding the care of children.
- Adheres to all regulatory, departmental and casino policies and procedures and to the casino Internal Control Structure.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supervisory Responsibilites:
This position supervises the Childcare Attendants.
- Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Two years of experience in a licensed childcare facility: or high school child development class.
- Must have knowledge of Early Childhood Education strategies, techniques, principles and practices.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedule.
- Must have the ability to provide work directions to others.
- Must be flexible working with children of all ages.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass pre-employment criminal background investigation.
- Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred.
- Must have proven record of dependability.
- Adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and resort policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and data entry.
