Inner Beauty Center exists to help the sexually exploited discover their value and purpose. We reach into the community meeting personal needs, building trusting relationships and walk alongside our clients through the recovery and restoration journey. Inner Beauty Center is a faith-based non-profit public charity.
Peer Support Specialist is a newly created position that will incorporate client advocacy and supportive services to women exiting sexual exploitation and/or substance abuse. Utilizing the skills of Emotional, Informational, Instrumental and affiliational support you will coordinate and provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client & Christ-centered. This is a part-time role – starting with 20 hours per week and increasing to 30 hours as client are added to your case load.
A Peer Support Specialist will incorporate the following client advocate responsibilities:
- We meet people in their darkest moments. Occasionally this requires “on call” time, but most often, relationships and appointments are managed during daytime/early evening hours. We strongly advise meetings be scheduled M-F. You have control over your schedule, in agreement with the Executive Director and in order to meet the needs of the client.
- Once a person requests assistance you will complete the intake and assessment forms, as appropriate. During the initial intake we explain the services we offer.
- In many cases we will connect with necessary agencies in Milwaukee on behalf of the client. These can include access to shelters, restoration programs and other resources.
- We assist with recovery of necessary papers and licenses (State ID, driver’s license, birth certificate, etc).
- All of these activities are documented in a client chart in an organized fashion, in order to meet requirements for grant compliance.
In addition to the duties listed, we also help with job applications/job readiness, resume building and community service hours. Often, we’ll accompany our clients to court dates, AODA appointments, medical appointments, etc., based on availability.
We have found the best team members to have a very flexible time schedule, great communication and listening skills, mental& emotional maturity, actively developing spiritual maturity, understanding, patience, problem-solving skills (particularly under pressure), and good command skills.

- At the core, we are a faith-based organization and strive to help our clients find hope in Christ. We’ll discuss this more during our recruiting process but will request for you to provide professional AND pastoral references.
- We prefer candidates have training as a Peer Support Specialist and certification ready.
- Experience with the care of sexually exploited women, understanding of trauma-informed care, and/or life experience with human trafficking/substance abuse is preferred
- Valid driver’s license and ability to transport clients in an insured vehicle is preferred
Pay:
- To be determined
- Mileage allowance: $50.00 per month
- Phone allowance : 50% of cell phone bill up to $65.00/month
- 2 weeks paid vacation and 2 sick days after 90 days of employment
- Starting pay $15 per hour with increase at 90 days.
