Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to fill the position of Youth Care Worker. This position requires staff that will play a vital role in and creating a supportive environment for male youth residents. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to the well-being of young individuals, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a dedicated team. The duties of a Youth Care Worker require ensuring the safety of residents by monitoring them, overseeing activities, and maintaining compliance with procedures, all while prioritizing the individual needs of each resident and the facility.

Responsibilities:
Residential Responsibilities:
- Implement and execute daily activities for residents within the male youth residential facility.
- Ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for residents.
- Implement and enforce house rules and regulations for residents.
- Attend regular and mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- RCYCP licensing requirements – (40 CEU’s)
- Staff developments and complete quarterly requirements.
Resident Management:
- Lead and motivate residents to complete chores and life skills.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Transport residents to activities and appointments.
- Assist clients with homework and provide support during virtual learning and study hall.
- Provide support during outings and activities.
- Help residents with planning and developing activities.
- Implement ISP plans with residents.
- Demonstrates and teaches residents personal hygiene, housekeeping and related practices.
- Teaching and assisting clients with meal preparation.
- Assists with unique and special needs of clients.
Youth Support and Development:
- Provide emotional support and guidance to male youth residents.
- Develop and implement programs to promote personal, social and emotional development of the youth.
- Collaborate with counselors and support staff to address residents' individual needs.
- Assist with meal preparations.
- Administer and document daily medications to the residents.
- Participate in staff development programs.
Crisis Intervention:
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or crises within the facility during shift.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with group home staff, and other professionals to ensure complete care for residents.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with external agencies, community partners, and families.
- Participate in Inner County Outreach events.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and current records of resident progress reports, medication logs, travel logs and incident reports.
- Prepare regular reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
- Adhere to the standards of HIPAA and COMAR.
- Daily shift debriefing and inspection.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in residential care or youth services is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Skilled in working independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Capable of decision making and conflict resolution.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and best practices in youth services.
- Must be able to successfully pass background check and fingerprinting.
Working Conditions
· This position involves working in a residential facility environment.
· Part Time position with flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays required.
· The role may require the ability to lift or assist youth with mobility issues, stand for extended periods, and manage high-energy residents or physically demanding situations.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
