DEPARTMENT: MAINTENANCE
JOB TITLE: JANITOR
REPORT TO: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for cleaning and performing various housekeeping, janitorial and grounds-keeping duties as required to maintain a clean and pleasant environment for staff, patients and visitors.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: The duties recorded below are intended to accurately represent the duties of the class and are not intended to cover every single duty of the job.
1. Cleans, sanitizes, and replenishes paper products in restrooms.
2. Dusts and polishes furniture and other surfaces.
3. Mops all tile areas and vacuums all carpets.
4. Cleans offices, including windows when necessary.
5. Empties all trash cans properly.
6. Solves emergency janitorial problems.
7. And performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from High school or GED equivalent, plus 1 year experience related to the duties of the job.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and ability to operate and maintain housekeeping and maintenance tool, equipment and chemicals properly; ability to learn and interpret rules, regulations, procedures, and policies; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers; ability to offer assistance as needed to co-workers and the public; ability to learn new skills to enhance job performance; ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: Not applicable- no assigned permanent staff to supervise.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Ability to walk, stand, bend and kneel for extended periods of time. Ability to lift heavy loads and climb ladders. Must be able to lift heavy loads.
CONTACTS: Supervisor, co-workers, other Innercare personnel, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Tasks may risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature extremes, machinery, vibrations, toxic agents, disease or pathogenic substances. Work is performed under stressful conditions. Must comply with the Innercare’s HIPPA Corporate Compliance Program.
