Overview
We are looking for a talented and experienced individual to join our growing team as Senior Manager, Accounting & Finance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the hire will have the opportunity to lead the accounts payable and accounting functions and contribute to the company’s long-term goals and success. The successful candidate will be collaborative, highly motivated, and possess the desire to constantly improve processes with an emphasis towards financial and operational best practices. This is a remote position with occasional travel to Company headquarters in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Hire will be the primary internal resource on accounts payable, accounting and payroll related matters.
- Lead the accounts payable function including monitoring the company’s AP inbox, recording and reconciling invoices, creating purchase orders, assisting with the approval of invoices and other matters.
- Communicate with vendors as necessary.
- Assist with, in conjunction with outsourced accounting firm, the monthly accounting close and the preparation of the financial statements including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Track accrued R&D across the organization and prepare monthly journal entries as appropriate.
- Support the CFO on budgeting and financial planning efforts for the Company.
- Co-manage relationship with outsourced service providers covering accounting, tax, IT and procurement.
- Bring certain AP, accounting and other functions in-house from outsourced service providers as appropriate.
- Support the Company’s annual audit and work directly with auditors on all audit requests.
Qualifications
Key Qualifications & Competencies
- BS/BA in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
- Minimum 6 years experience in public or corporate accounting.
- Prior experience in the biotechnology industry required.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reporting and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels within and external to the organization.
- Excellent business acumen, and an ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
- Very good attention to detail but with the ability to see the big picture.
- High personal integrity and strong work ethic. Excellent writing/documentation skills.
