Also, the Banquet Captain will work directly with clients and guests at the event to ensure that attendees are satisfied with the service.

- Always approaches all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Promotes a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner.
- Engages and creates a positive experience for guests.
- Inspects the set-up of meeting and banquet functions, checking them against the Banquet Event Order.
- Supervises and assists with the set-up of assigned catered functions, ensuring that the hotel’s standards are met, and advance preparation for service is adequate to allow efficient service.
- Acts as liaison between Sales/Catering Manager and the in-house meeting or Banquet Manager.
- Assists F&B Manager with the creation of the Banquet work schedules and banquet reports.
- Assists in the servicing of functions as required.
- Requisitions liquor for all banquet bars and maintains proper control over banquet beverage service.
- Supervises and assists with the break down after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly.
- Inspects the sanitation of all function space and storage areas to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
- Maintains knowledge and ensures that staff is following all state liquor laws.
- Must be familiar with banquet menus and prices.
- Holds pre-function meetings, and checks staffing and menus, prior to events.
- Assigns side-work duties and stations to all banquet servers.
- Prepares banquet checks and obtains signatures from guest contacts.
- Monitors ongoing functions throughout assigned shift.
- Assists in set up of audio/visual, as necessary.
- Handles items for “Lost and Found” according to company standards.
- Stays current and up to date with all hotel’s special events.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by management.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of banquet and customer service experience required, hospitality industry preferred.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, or scheduled form.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English in order to communicate with guests and team members.
- Knowledge of reservation and POS systems.
- Ability to work with computers and good knowledge of operating software preferred.
- Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented.
- Must be a team player.
