What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records/ Scheduler position at Inniswood Health and Rehabilitation?
Medical Records:
- Assist in organizing, planning and directing the medical records section in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility, to assure that medical records can be properly maintained.
- Collect, assemble, check and file resident chart as required.
- Ensure incomplete records/charts are returned to nursing service for correction.
- Assist in developing procedures to ensure records are properly completed, coded, signed, indexed, etc., before filing.
- Follow established policies and procedures for the medical records section.
- Establish a procedure to ensure charts/records do not leave the section except as authorized in our policies and procedures.
- Maintain a record of authorized information taken from charts/records, i.e., type information, name of recipient, date, department, etc.
- Abstract information from records as authorized/required for insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, etc.
Scheduling Coordinator:
- Creates schedules for Nurses and STNA’s based on established routines and required staffing needs of the facility.
- Maintains center coverage at all times. Reviews and tracks requests for time off. Coordinates scheduling changes with management. If needed, will help to cover floor if staffing needs are not met.
- Serves as liaison with staff with respect to work schedules. Negotiates schedules balancing center’s staffing needs, federal and state laws and regulations, and employee schedule preferences.
- Personally responds to emergency situations to ensure center coverage. When not available to respond, ensures all Unit Managers are briefed daily on the protocol to ensure adequate response and coverage.
