Fire Alarm Designer

In addition to designing fire alarms, a basic understanding of other low voltage systems will be required. Although fire will be the focus, this position will also include occasionally designing and / or estimating security, surveillance, access control and other low voltage systems.

What You Will Do | Responsibilities:
- Design fire systems while following required codes.
- Look for ways to value engineer projects as necessary while maintaining code compliance.
- Create detailed take offs from plans and drawings.
- Create CAD drawings and submittal packages for AHJs
- Produce shop drawings and as built drawings
- Perform site surveys and walk projects with customers and sales team members.
- Coordinate resources and prepare proposals complete with bill of materials, labor, subcontract, and other charges as needed.
- Create detailed project descriptions, scope of work, as well as information needed for an accurate and detailed job file.
- Keep informed of new products and developments.
- Attend in-house training sessions and manufacturers’ training as assigned and/or required.
- Grow and maintain NFPA 72 code knowledge.
What We Are Looking For:
Required:
- Must have a high level of knowledge and hands on experience with design and code compliance of fire systems and other low voltage systems.
- Minimum of two years fire alarm design experience.
- Must have experience with CAD and other specialized design software.
- Revit experience preferred.
- Great leadership and organizational skills.
- Highly proficient in computer skills.
- Must be able to read requests for proposals, and floor plans and provide proposals accordingly.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational ability and time management skills.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Represent the company in a professional, credible manner in speech, written communication, and appearance.
Preferred:
- 10 years of experience in the fire life-safety, security, and low voltage industry.
- NICET II or greater certification.
