A cutting edge , Houston based clean energy company seeks a tenured Manager of Revenue and Compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage revenue recognition under ASC 606 (or cost share recognition) and all customer billing
- Responsible for ensuring the company's financial compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
- Review and reconcile required supporting documentation for all billing, including DOE, to ensure compliance with associated contractual and regulatory requirements
- Manage direct reports; coach and develop these roles by providing clear objectives, timely performance feedback, and career development opportunities
- Oversee execution of monthly reconciliations of revenue, deferred revenue, work-in-process, and share and reporting related to accounts receivable (billed, unbilled, aging)
- Manage and ensure timely submission of Incurred Cost Submission (ICS), Certified Statements of Expenditures (CSE), Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA), SF-425s, success fee reports, and completion of all related audits
- Oversee, and prepare if needed, all monthly revenue recognition and cost share journal entries
- Responsible for ensuring processes and procedures are appropriately documented, with special attention to revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and government accounting with relevant Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Dedication to continuously improving accounting processes and documentation , and leading process improvement initiatives
- Responsible for determining appropriate setup of accounting-related project details in the company's ERP, which ensures that allocations, revenue recognition, and billing can be performed timely and accurately
- Support the Controller in financial statement and internal audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND ABLITIES:
- Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (or similar) designation is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of eight years of full-time accounting experience, with at least three years of supervisory/managerial experience, is required. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently with minimal daily direction from the manager to accomplish objectives. Additional required or preferred skills are as follows:
- Significant knowledge of US GAAP and SOX, including direct responsibility for ASC 606 conclusions
- Demonstrated proficiency of accounting/auditing in a multi-company environment adhering to SOX
- Proven ability to analyze operational results
- Demonstrated proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives
- ERP system experience in a SOX environment
- Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and external stakeholders
- Government contract financial reporting experience required
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
