Job Summary
The Charge Nurse plays a critical leadership role in the healthcare team, overseeing patient care and ensuring that nursing staff provide high-quality services. This position requires a skilled and compassionate nurse who can manage patient care effectively while supporting and guiding nursing staff. The Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care activities, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Local rates apply within 80 miles
The primary shifts will be 12 hr overnight shifts from 6pm-6:30am. There may be some 12 hr day shifts as well
Weekends will be every third at a minimum. Would prefer 2 weekends on and 1 off.
They would be expected to work a holiday rotation schedule.

Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Conduct assessments of patients' health status and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusion and catheterization.
- Perform venipuncture for blood draws and other diagnostic procedures.
- Provide support in emergency situations, leveraging experience in ER and critical care settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes, including case management.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, including ICD-9, for accurate documentation and billing.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and health management strategies.
- Mentor and train new nursing staff on best practices and protocols.
Skills
- Proficient in catheterization techniques and IV infusion administration.
- Experience in emergency room (ER) settings with strong critical care skills.
- Knowledgeable in botulinum toxin treatment protocols is a plus.
- Strong case management abilities to facilitate comprehensive patient care.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
- Understanding of ICD-9 coding for effective documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusive care practices.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Strong leadership qualities to inspire and guide nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient care.
