Utility Worker

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring a Utility Worker. Position type : Full-time - Contract Duration : 12 Months Location : San Antonio, TX 78220 As a Utility Worker, you will : Job Description : Assists skilled workers in performing their assigned duties. May be assigned to one specific task or may be transferred from task to task as a project progresses to completion. Tasks are generally unskilled manual duties. Tasks and Responsibilities : Sets up barricades and traffic cones. Acts as flagman to direct traffic as times. Breaks ground or pavement where necessary by use of jackhammer or whatever methods conditions prescribe.Digs trenches by means of shovel, or other methods as conditions prescribe. Tamps and backfills trenches.Does other similar work, which may be called upon to perform, and any other work as necessary or to satisfactorily complete the job to which has been assigned.Working knowledge of use, care, and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in trade.Ability to observe and report equipment status.Knowledge of inspection methods and techniques for strict compliance with regulations and applicable codes.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.Capable of working independently and prioritizing tasks to meet the needs of the unit and its customers.Operate equipment required for the installation of electrical and gas lines including backhoes, trenching machines, dump trucks, boring machines, and air compressors.Assists in the construction of duct banks, manholes, natural gas mains and distribution lines.Ability to assist Journeymen as needed to complete the job.Uses equipment in a manner which subjects it to normal wear and tear only.Assists in the installation of customer electrical and natural gas services.Performs job duties in a safety conscious manner that reflects safety in work habits and working on projects.Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications : High School Diploma or GEDAbility to dig spreads and level dirt, gravel and sand.Ability to load and unload materials from company truck by hand or with an assisting device such as a forklift.Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools. i.e. demolishing structures, dismantling forms, cutting insulation material, removing concrete.Ability to transport needed tools, equipment and materials to / from and around work site.Clean tools, equipment, materials and specified work areas as needed.Follow specific work orders as given by skilled worker or foreman. • 17 - $19 Per hour.
