What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Principal position at Innovation Academy Charter School?
The Principal acts as an administrator for grades 9 through 12 and helps the school develop and achieve school-wide, mission-driven goals focused on creating a vibrant and inclusive school culture.
Principal reports to the Head of School and works most closely with a High School Assistant Principal. As a member of the leadership team, the High School Principal will collaborate with the Middle School Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Student Services Director, Director of Equity and School Counseling, and Chief Operating Officer to make sure the school provides an excellent academic program which is faithful to its charter.
Responsibilities
Global Administrative Duties Responsibilities
Meet with Head of School and school leadership team on a regular basis.
Work with faculty, administration, and support staff to ensure the daily operations of the school run in a safe and orderly manner
Lead staff meetings on topics related to areas of oversight; keep staff memo updated with important dates and time-sensitive responsibilities
Oversee the development and revisions to the Student and Family Handbook with a particular eye towards equity and inclusion
Develop master schedule for students to best meet student and staff needs
Collaborate with Assistant Principal and other administrators to prepare student schedules
Collaborate with Chief Operating Officer to ensure programs operate within and are supported by the school budget
Submit required reports in a timely fashion and revise as necessary.
Coordinate and execute student recruitment events in collaboration with the Enrollment Office and administration
Coordinate Summer School Programming: student enrollment, family notifications, staff recruitment,, etc.
School Culture & Family Engagement
Partner with faculty and administration to develop and support structures that encourage a student culture of respect for self and the broader community IACS serves
Collect and analyze school culture data (qualitative and quantitative), at the aggregate and subgroup level, that can provide ongoing assessment of areas of strength and opportunities for improvement
Identifies and addresses bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students and staff, as well as family partnerships
Support Assistant Principal and their work managing student conflict and restorative practices, implementing anti-bullying practices, etc.
Communicate the goals of the educational program to the community and interact with families in regards to all issues of teaching and school policy at the school
Lead Parent Advisory Council which fosters family partnership and provides feedback about the school
Collaborate with Director Equity and School Counseling to educate student, staff, and parents on topics related to: gender identity, neurodiversity, language differences, and racial/cultural diversity
Collaborate with Assistant Principal to create structures that promote student leadership
Academic and Extracurricular Leadership
Support, supervise, and evaluate the following: Assistant Principals,Extracurricular program leads (ex: Athletic Department, Theater Program, etc.)
Support the work associated with our Accountability Plan and Strategic Plan, including:Diversifying our workforce, Amplifying student voice and engagement
Coordinate MCAS Administration, in consultation with student services department and technology department
Coordinate community events related to academic and extracurricular programs
with Assistant Principals, manage academic probation process and monitor academic progress of student
Work with administration to create and execute staff trainings utilizing Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS)QUALIFICATIONS
