Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that employee and environmental programs are developed and that the company is adhering to regulations, other legislative and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Investigate injuries/illnesses, near-misses, and environmental incidents.
- Manages and directs site in achieving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) targets & objectives.
- Create and submit required documents to OSHA and DEP.
- Develop, implement, and improve Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and processes including emergency preparedness and fire protection, safety risk assessments and safe working procedures for non-office activities, hazardous waste management, training, ergonomics, contractor safety, and crisis management.
- Provide status updates and recommendations to senior management on program and policy development for health, safety, and environmental compliance programs.
- Monitor & inspect employees for compliance with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and other regulations.
- Analyze spending and monitor budgets to identify cost savings opportunities.
- Stay informed of industry best practices providing input and leadership in development and roll-out of companywide policies and procedures.
- The position may also be responsible for treating minor injuries and managing worker’s compensation claims.
- Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
- Leads site safety committee and initiatives.
- This role may require off-shift and weekend work.
- This role may require some travel (less than 5%).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- 3-7 years of experience with an emphasis in health and safety management or experience in a technical environment requiring adherence to strong health and safety practices.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial safety, Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related degree preferred.
- Professional certification desired (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Auditor).
- Safety-related professional certifications desired.
- Familiarity with business continuity standards and practices.
- Effective coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
