Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Healthcare Construction Superintendent to lead construction projects within active healthcare environments. This role is crucial for overseeing all phases of construction, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to healthcare regulations. You will coordinate with subcontractors, architects, inspectors, and the Owner’s representative, focusing on structural aspects, infection control, and OSHPD/HCAI compliance. Your expertise will ensure successful project completion within operational hospital settings.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all project phases from bid through closeout, ensuring adherence to plans, quality standards, and safety protocols.
Serve as the main point of contact for subcontractors, allocating resources, supervising personnel, and troubleshooting any on-site challenges.
Collaborate closely with the Construction Manager and Owner’s representative, coordinating with inspectors and architects to maintain project alignment.
Conduct and document detailed inspections of workmanship and materials; provide notices for any facility or utility interruptions to the Owner’s representative.
Lead pull planning sessions, creating and managing critical paths in project schedules; regularly update timelines in Microsoft Project.
Conduct on-site safety reviews, enforce infection control and interim life safety measures, and ensure all subcontractors adhere to safety protocols.
Manage project documentation, including shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs, using Procore for efficient tracking, record-keeping, and change event updates.
Coordinate with city, state, and county officials as needed, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
Qualifications
10 years of construction management experience, with healthcare or similar high-compliance environments preferred.
Strong understanding of construction documents (RFIs, submittals, contracts), and familiarity with healthcare-specific codes and standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Project, and Procore for project tracking, reporting, and schedule management.
Skilled in problem-solving and adapting to unique healthcare environment challenges, with experience visualizing and addressing constructability issues.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels, from subcontractors to client representatives.
In-depth knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI processes, hospital infection control protocols, and the flexibility to operate within an active healthcare facility.
