Innovative Access Technologies, a growing life safety company located in Winchester, VA., is seeking an experienced Security Tech with installation, programming, and troubleshooting capabilities. This position will work closely with our leadership team and clients to ensure a sound design and seamless installation and commissioning of our security alarm solutions including Access control and CCTV projects. This position requires attention to detail and integrity in all aspects of executing projects as well as a high level of customer service skills. Communication skills, both verbal and written are important elements of the position.
Job Description;
This position assists with security alarm system installation, startup, and assuring that all systems and components are crafted, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to the operational requirements of the owner or final customer. The right candidate will work well with others, take ownership, be a team player, and act with integrity. This position reports to the Service Manager and takes direction from the General Manager and Service Manager.
Specific Essential Functions:
- Experience in Intrusion Detection, CCTV, and Access Control installation & programming for such systems as Honeywell, Napco, GE, Qolsys, Avigilon, and OpenPath.
- Install Intrusion Hardware and cabling, Access Control, CCTV, and other forms of cabling as technology continues to evolve.
- Assist in testing of installed equipment and provide basic programming, such as, adding alarm points, card readers, and cameras to any system.
- Assist in performing preventive maintenance and repair as per a client maintenance agreement and/or warranty.
- Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing systems and/or equipment.
- Position requires technician to participate in an on-call rotation schedule. Technician would be available to answer client calls after normal working hours and on weekend/holidays depending on the rotation order.
- Responsible for updating team lead on the status of all work performed on a daily basis.
- Notify team lead daily of any materials needed to complete duties.
- Perform additional Security Technician and related functions as assigned by the team lead and deemed within the general skill and ability level of a productive Security Technician in our industry.
Responsibilities:
- Document daily job details on work order forms; communicate deficiencies and progress.
- Plan work with Service Manager.
- Complete required tasks within planned timelines.
- Submit accurate time keeping of projects and daily expenses weekly.
- Work overtime when needed.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED required.
- Proven electro-mechanical proficiency (based on previous experience and/or education) and user PC/software skills needed to be successful in this role.
- Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.
- Must be able to differentiate types/colors of wire, be able to use hand-tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.

- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
- Individual must possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Individual must posses a valid DCJS license or be able to acquire one.
