What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grain Accounting Clerk position at Innovative Ag Services?
Primary Objective: To provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by completing timely and accurate accounting functions according to company policies and other authoritative guidelines.
Areas of Accountability:

- Accounts for all direct, picked up, transfer, and PLCP grain scale tickets daily.
- Issue settlement checks and ACH payments for full direct and picked-up contracts, as well as other off-site locations.
- Settle customer grain positions in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Record and issue warehouse receipts in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Prepare grain reports as needed internally, reports for PLCP, and customer reports.
- Maintain required documentation for state and federal auditors.
- Identify and solve problems and elevate unresolved items to the attention of the Grain Marketing Manager.
- Maintain good communications with location personnel to ensure accurate grain settlements.
- Record and reconcile terminal settlements to ensure proper payment has been received, and discounts are reasonable.
- Print/mail/communicate filled offers with location staff and customers.
- Verify contract signatures and scan/attach in the computer system, and keep a numerical credit sale contract book.
- Assist in central reissue/payments of deferred and price-later contracts.
- Train location customer service staff on grain settlement processes and be a primary resource to help with their grain questions.
- Seasonally scale inbound and outbound products at IAS locations.
- Backup other grain and location staff key functions during their absence and seasonally.
- Accept and carry out any other assigned tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to organize, multitask, embrace change, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong math skills and attention to detail.
- Strong people skills, good phone, and electronic communication etiquette, follow directions, and meet deadlines.
- Previous grain or accounting experience preferred
- Some Saturdays and overtime hours will be necessary seasonally.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:
- Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to a weight of 30 pounds. Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Some tasks involve repetitive motion. Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agricultural products.
