The Lead Custodian (various shifts available) plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating custodial operations within our organization. They are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities to create a safe and pleasant environment for staff, visitors, and customers. This role involves supervising a team of custodial staff, assisting with the maintenance of supplies and inventory, and adhering to established cleaning protocols and safety standards.

- Lead and manage a team of custodial staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
- Oversee and perform daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal
- Maintain supply closets and inventory of cleaning supplies for custodians and ensure the proper use and storage of cleaning materials
- Request/reorder supplies as necessary
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols and report any safety hazards or incidents promptly
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure that cleaning standards meet or exceed expectations
- Maintain open communication with the custodial team, facility management, and other relevant departments
- Assist supervisor with overseeing and coordinating custodial work schedules, including shift assignments, task distribution, custodial work orders (may include data entry within client work management system)
- Identify and escalate any custodial-related issues or concerns, to management
- Provide training to custodial staff on cleaning procedures, safety measures, and equipment operation
- Sweep, mop, scrub, polish floors, and sanitize all surfaces in offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, as assigned
- Empty trash and recycling bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and showers
- Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors
- Clean lavatories, showers, and restrooms
- Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish
- Must be available to work in other areas after primary job duties are completed
- Teamwork is a vital part of this position.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
- US Citizenship required and ability to pass a government clearance
- Must have a valid state driver’s license with no major infractions
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite
- Must have knowledge of acceptable maintenance procedures and understanding of occupational safety and health regulations
- Ability to work on site during normal working hours; position may require occasional call-ins for special circumstances
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment operation
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Qualifying Factors
As a condition of employment, it may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
Security Clearance
It is mandatory that all Contractor personnel working onsite at federal facilities meet federal government security clearance standards. ICMS shall submit security clearance information for each employee, as required by current government identification card application procedures and future requirements as applicable.

This is a Union position - Teamsters Local 769 Union
This position is eligible for overtime compensation if required. Health and Welfare benefits are up to $1,550.00 per month.
Employees receive an allowance for uniform shirts, pants, and footwear on an annual basis.
