ICMS is seeking an experienced and multi skilled Senior HVAC and Refrigeration Maintenance Technician to join our team in support of one of our federal clients. This position is 100% onsite at a Federal Government facility. This is a Union position through the Teamsters Local 769.
The Sr. HVAC and Refrigeration Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. He/ She is also responsible for the installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines. Provides guidance, direction and support to the HVAC Technician, Trades Helpers and O&M management team to assess issues, plan and schedule maintenance, and conduct root cause analysis of issues. Conducts root cause analysis of issues, equipment performance trends and failures. Will be responsible for conducting daily tours of equipment and monitoring operational effectiveness, tenant comfort and routine maintenance.
Additional duties include:
- Assists in troubleshooting, diagnosis, service and repair of heavy commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems
- Maintains, monitors and manages BAS system, DDCs, and Energy Management System(s)
- Tests electrical currents or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
- Tests pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution
- Joins pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant source, to form complete circuit
- Reassembles and tests equipment following repairs
- Repairs or replaces defective equipment, components, or wiring
- Layouts and connects electrical wiring between controls and equipment, according to wiring diagrams, using electrician’s hand tools
- Installs, connects, and adjusts thermostats, humidistats, and timers, using hand tools
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
- Inspects and tests systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions
- Provides timely and quality repairs of commercial grade ice makers, walk-in cooler/freezers and reach in cooler/freezers, etc.
- Performs Preventive, Corrective, Predictive and emergency maintenance on all HVAC and Refrigeration equipment throughout campus
- Logs all freon IAW Fed, State and local EPA regulations
- Performs other related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Following instructions, both verbal and written
- Ability to work on site during normal working hours; available for after-hour calls and being on-call
- Read, understand, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacture’s recommendations of equipment.
- Safely operate hand tools, power-hand tools, and complete roof inspections required by assignments.
- Computer skills for record keeping in the CMMS (Maximo)
- Attend training as scheduled and/or required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
- OSHA 10 Certification (preferably OSHA 30)
- Must have experience in HVAC, air handling, deionizer water, chilled water condenser, hot water, compressed air, electronic gate systems, and boilers.
- Must have and maintain state HVAC licenses/certifications.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license with no major infractions.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in AC and Refrigeration trade as an HVAC/R Technician in a commercial industrial/ government setting.
- At least two (2) leadership experience as a Lead or Foreman in the HVAC/R field.
- Reliable transportation to work.
- Be able to regularly Lift, Carry, Push/Pull up to 75 lbs.
- TRANE Chiller experience.
- TRANE Automation System experience.
PREFERRED:
- Boiler experience a plus
- Experience working in a government facility
- Strong industry relationships with equipment and parts distributors, manufacturers and service providers.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
Security Clearance Requirements:
It is mandatory that all Contractor personnel working onsite at federal facilities meet federal government security clearance standards. The Contractor shall submit security clearance information, for each employee, as required by current government identification card application procedures and future requirements as applicable. All employees must be authorized as acceptable under by the contracting officer for the prime contract under which this employee is working.
Full-Time Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
Pay Rate: $40.67/hr. Health & Welfare Benefits ($1,550.00/month)
This position is eligible for overtime compensation with prior authorization by management.
