Job Summary
We are seeking a TS / SCI cleared Senior Storage Engineer for a contract with an Intelligence Community agency in Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support various storage and backup appliances and associates management tools.
- Configure and deploy various storage platforms
- Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies
- Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required
- Participate in the evaluation, deployment and management of new technologies in alignment with other engineers and architects
- Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends
- Create and maintain documentation : logical / physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents
- Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
- Oversee the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures
- Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
- Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed
- Keeps abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology
Required Qualifications and Skills
BS degree and 8 years of related experience; or equivalent combinationHands on engineering experience with NetApp storage, Brocade and / or Cisco Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks, and other storage technologies and conceptsExperience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementationsExperience designing, installing and supporting storage appliances and associated management utilitiesExperience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environmentsExperience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environmentsExperience with data center migrations and storage replication technologiesSenior level experience configuring and deploying various storage platformsStrong experience with design, development, implementation, and maintenance of storage systems, preferably across multiple hardware and software platformsExperience with managing work tasks via tools such as JIRA and ServiceNowStrong experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centersStrong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environmentStrong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts : disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I / O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, EthernetStrong understanding of essential TCP / IP concepts : TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)System configuration based on security guidelines such as DISA STIGsCompTIA Security or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certificationStrong written and oral communication skillsDesired Qualifications and Skills
