Medical Assistant
_Job Summary
- Assist physicians, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties, such as preparing treatment rooms for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment.
_General Accountability
- Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations.
- Interviews patients to obtain their medical history.
- Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.
- Performs routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.
- Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.
- Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment and instruments.
- Properly disposes of contaminated supplies.
- Assists physicians during examination by handing over instruments and materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Associate's Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience: 2 years; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience. Dermatology experience preferred.
- Certifications and Licenses: CPR and first aid certification required; certification as a medical assistant (CMA) preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greet patients in polite, prompt, helpful manner.
- Provide necessary instructions and/or directions and inform appropriate person of patient’s arrival according to protocol.
- Update patient information, provide any necessary forms needing completion, obtain all necessary signatures.
- Construct new patient charts as instructed. Obtain copies of insurance cards and photo ID for each patient.
- Use computer system to generate information necessary for billing.
- Chart prep, verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility, obtain authorizations and referrals.
- Charge Entry, collect and manage money, and accurately document in accounts.
- Obtain and/or verify necessary demographic and financial information according to protocol.
- Maintain clean and orderly desk and waiting area.
- Confirm upcoming appointments.
- Scan and update electronic medical records, enter information into electronic medical records as needed.
- Answer phone according to protocol, take messages, schedule appointments and return calls
- General clerical, including maintaining office cleanliness, waiting room and open/close procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26,000.00 - $41,000.00 per year
