What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manual Lathe Operator position at Innovative Machine Specialist?
General Purpose of This Position :
Program and set-up lathes / mills
Load, align, and operate machine per work order instructions
Install and adjust chucks, tools, attachments, etc.
Prepare tooling for changeovers and perform machine changeovers.
Ability to interpret dimensions and tolerances
Ability to accurately use and interpret measuring equipment
Maintain specifications by observation and measuring equipment
Consistent output of accurate parts
Ensure work area is clean and safe
Roadwork / Installation at customer site as deemed necessary by management
Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary by management
Must attend required meetings at specified location
Qualifications and Skills :
- Show professionalism through maturity, dependability, and a positive attitude
- Milling background / experience
- People skills, including ability to communicate effectively and listen actively
- Keen sense of attention to detail
- Possess organizational skills
- Ability to work alone as well as with others
- Self-starter with the ability to take on multiple projects
- Skilled in establishing priorities and managing workload on a daily basis
- Great attendance and punctuality

Physical Demands :

The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 70#. It is very seldom that the employee will be required to squat / kneel / crawl, climb stairs / ladder, work over shoulder, or work floor to waist.

The employee will frequently use a lathe, blue prints, and the use of measuring equipment including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, tape measure, CMM, and various gauges. The employee will occasionally use hand tools.

A shop experience is typical in this position. The employee will work indoors and very rarely be required to work outdoors. On occasion, there will be exposure to noise.
