Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced System Engineer (SME) to join our team in Clarksburg, WV (Remote). The ideal candidate will apply their advanced knowledge of network protocols and systems to support and enhance our network infrastructure. This position will focus on the configuration, management, troubleshooting, and optimization of LAN/WAN environments, as well as the implementation of robust security measures. The successful candidate will be responsible for solving complex network issues, evaluating new technologies, and ensuring the continued functionality and efficiency of our network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) routing and switching principles to develop and implement practical network solutions.
Perform multi-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to resolve network-related problems efficiently.
Configure, maintain, and upgrade LAN/WAN design and topology, ensuring network infrastructure is aligned with best practices.
Install, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN hardware, including managing wiring closets and establishing standardized nomenclature.
Oversee the management of Cisco and other hardware, including consumer-grade routers and switches.
Utilize standard network management and packet analysis tools to monitor and maintain network performance.
Plan, implement, and administer perimeter security measures, including firewalls, to safeguard the network environment.
Evaluate and assess new technologies, providing recommendations to enhance the network’s efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network infrastructure aligns with business needs and technical specifications.
Qualifications:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Enterprise Infrastructure certification.
2 to 5 years of experience with firewall configuration, load balancing, and network management.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and other common protocols.
Expert knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP).
Strong expertise in Virtual Private Network (VPN) design and configuration.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve TCP/IP connectivity issues and other network-related problems.
Expert-level troubleshooting skills and root-cause problem-solving abilities.
Experience working in an Agile environment using methodologies such as Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience with network security tools and firewall management.
Hands-on experience with network design, implementation, and optimization.
Familiarity with cloud network architecture and hybrid networking solutions.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
